Strafford County contracts with the Strafford County Community Action Program, Inc. to provide a variety of programs to low-income residents of Strafford County. They have WIC, heating and electric, weatherization assistance, the Fix-It Program to help with small home repairs, elderly transportation programs, child care programs, and workplace assistance programs.

For those who can no longer afford to care for their pets, or, whose living arrangements have changed making pet ownership impossible, the shelter is available to take in pets and find them new homes.

 

Barrington Welfare Department & Food Pantry

Contact Carolyn Berryment at 664-9007 from 8AM-5PM Monday-Thursday to fill out an application and set up an appointment. 

 

The Food Pantry is located at 39 Province Lane (below the library and near the gym doors at the side of the building).  They are open Thursdays from 6-7:30PM and for the elderly only on the 1st Friday of each month from 9-10AM.  The Food Pantry is for Barrington residents who have met with the Welfare Director and meet all criteria. All state and federal programs will be exhausted before local assistance becomes available.
