icestorm
In January 1998 New Hampshire had a terrible ice storm.  For about 4 days we had
a very light cold mist.  It built up over time to look like the above picture - branches
coated with many days of moisture.  The ice is thicker than the branches.
I lost power for 4 days, power lines down accross the street, I lost some trees, the
power lines were pulled off my house.  I had to melt ice on the wood stove to have
water to flush the toilets.  My food was outside.  I heated food on the woodstove and
it was not an easy task.   I now have my house with equipped with a generator.

Through all of this was a lot of beauty.  When the sun was out everthing glistened.  As
the temperature slowly warmed up you could go outside at night and hear the branches
breaking and falling on the hard packed ice/snow below.  It sounded like glass shattering.
Mother Nature sure has her fury, but she has her beauty as well.
