About The James E.
Nichols Library Association.
The
Association was the governing body of the Nichols Library from its
founding (see our History page)
until
2005.
Their job was to fund the library and oversee the Trust established by
Mr. Nichols. Members voted on the budget, as presented by the Board of Trustees, who manged library business
on behalf of the Association. As the Town of Center
Harbor took on an ever-greater role in funding the library, the
Association's role became less essential. At
the 2004 Annual meeting, it was agreed to disolve the
organization and pass governance of the Library to the
Town.
2005 Annual Meeting: The
Annual Meeting of the James E.
Nichols Library Association on Saturday, November 5 in the Library.
This was an historic event, as
finalized the dissolution of the Assocation and the passing of
the governance of the library to a Town/Trustee
arrangement. Association members look to establish a
Friends of the Library group, which will provide advocay
and fund raising for the Library. The Association also heard the
librarian's year-end report and approved the
Budget for the coming financial year,
