My suit is based off of the scout trooper costume in the Smithsonian's Magic of Myth tour.
My armor is vaccuformed from 0.08 gauge gloss white ABS thermoplastic.
The chest and back armor is connected at the shoulders with 2" white nylon webbing. The webbing has sew-on Velcro that matches up to adhesive Velcro on the armor.
The sides are attached with 1" white elastic. It is sewn to the front eyelets and threaded through the back eyelets where it attached to the armor with Velcro. Again, the elastic has sew-on and the armor has adhesive Velcro.
The mark on the chest is a piece of gray automotive pin striping.
The black lines on the tank are made with 1/8" black automotive pin striping.
The controls on the tank are held on with large rivet.
The shoulder bells are held on by a piece of 1" black elastic that is sewn to the bottom of the white nylon shoulder straps. A piece of 1" black elastic across the bottom keeps them from flipping over when worn.
The bicep armor is held on with 2" black elastic. I added gray foam to the insides to help keep them from slipping down. I also added a strip of Velcro to the inside of the elastic strap that matches up with a piece of Velcro sewn onto the sleeve of my flight suit. This helps keep it in place as well. The black detail pieces are black cardboard glued in place.
The forearm armor is held on with 1" black elastic.
The belt is glued to a piece of 2" white nylon webbing and riveted at the sides. The nylon webbing attaches to itself in the back with two strips of sew-on Velcro.
The drop boxes are attached with 2" white nylon webbing. The belts use 2" black parachute clips. The webbing is attached to the main belt with rivets.
The back box is attached to the tubing with a black quick tie. The tubing is then attached to the belt with rivets and epoxy. The end caps are attached with epoxy. The black detail pieces are black cardboard glued in place. Looking at the back of the box, the two middle rivets hold the ribbed tube with the help of some epoxy. The two rivets outside those hold the webbing for the drop boxes.
The knees are held on with 1" black elastic. I added gray foam to the inside to keep them from moving around and to make them more comfortable.
