MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF

JANUARY 20, 2003

NON PUBLIC SESSION I

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:        STAFF PRESENT:

Todd Lefebvre, Chairman                    Brian Blake, Superintendent

Richard Cilley                                        Jean Parsons, Dir. PP

Dave Vachon                                        Butch Lewis, Principal

Steve Yurick

Parent and Student RM came before the board.  Introductions followed.  Todd explained the rights of public session and the rights to an attorney to the mother.  She declined and asked to proceed.

Butch explained that Student RM is before the board because he has reached the 4th suspension rule.  He had previously been suspended for damaging property and various acts.  This time he has been suspended for the inappropriate touching of another student.  Student explained that a girl had pinched him and he had pinched her back.  The board members spoke to the student about his lack of remorse for what he had done.  He said he didn’t understand why he was getting into trouble when the girl had done it first.  Discussion with the student and board members continued.

Mom and student were asked to leave while the board discussed the matter. 

Recommendation of administration:

Additional 10 days of suspension

Allowed to returned with no further infractions from that point on.

All work to be completed while suspended and returned in good quality

MOTION:                Todd Lefebvre moved to accept the recommendation of administration

SECOND:                Steve Yurick

VOTE:                    Unanimous

Mom and Student returned.  Brian explained the decision of the board.  Mom and Student left.

MOTION:                Todd Lefebvre moved to come out of non public session

SECOND:                Dave Vachon

VOTE:                    Unanimous by roll call vote at 7:35 p.m.

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:                    STAFF MEMBERS:

Todd Lefebvre, Chairman                    Brian Blake, Superintendent

Dave Vachon                                        Jean Parsons, Dir. PP

Steve Yurick                                          Butch Lewis, Principal

Jim Quinn has submitted his resignation for personal reasons.

MOTION:                  Todd moved to accept the resignation with regret.

SECOND:                Steve Yurick

VOTE:                    Unanimous

Brian presented a letter to the board from a concerned parent about the lack of cheerleading.  Discussion followed.   Some parents have volunteered to supervise the cheering.   The board feels that legal issues need to be dealt with concerning the allowance of volunteers to oversee a stipend position.

Steve has questions on the bud stats.

MOTION:                Todd Lefebvre

SECOND:                Steve Yurick

VOTE:                    Unanimous by roll call vote at 10:20 p.m.
