Keepsake Carrying Cloth Raffle to benefit Southeast Asians affected by the
tsunami
I
have made two of these stunning baby carriers (click images below to enlarge). The
hand-dyed gauze wrap is nearly symmetrical, with a deep fuchsia center and green,
blue, and white ripply ends. It made me think of an underwater merfolk
castle, so I created the appliqué of a mermama nursing her little one. The
baby is diving down while mama swims on her back. The appliqué marks
the center of the wrap, and coupled with the contrasting edges, make it extremely
easy to use. For wearing ideas and instructions, see mamatoto.org. The
photos give only the smallest hint of its beauty. This wrap is a keepsake
cloth and can later be made into a wall hanging or journal cover, and it
comes complete with a signed certificate of authenticity.
100% of the proceeds from the raffle will go to CARE
International to aid in relief efforts for those affected by the devastating
tsunami. Their organization has less than 10% overhead and administrative
costs and an impressive track record. Please join me in supporting this
organization by purchasing one or more raffle tickets or by donating directly
at their website.
Tickets are $5/each or 5/$20. The raffle will take place on Valentine's
day. Ticket sales will end the evening of February 13. If the raffle
raises more than $250, then both of these wraps will go into the raffle in order
to keep everyone's chances of winning high. Please spread the word to friends,
family, or on any boards you frequent! Winner(s) will be posted here after
February 14th and also announced through Gypsy Mama's newsletter.
I
am looking forward to a great new year, with many new and innovative products
