A Bit of History.
The idea of having a garden club grew while Gwen W. and Anne L. were pruning berry bushes in the blueberry fields of Berry Bog Farm. Soon after, a luncheon and planning meeting was held.

May 10, 1993– The first public meeting was held at the Bow Lake Grange with 13 people in attendance. Officers were elected at that meeting and plans for the first Plant Sale were made for May 15th. Gwen W. was elected president, Anne L. Programs, Celia H. Secretary, and Carol M. was treasurer-in a shoebox.

Within one year, 1994, we had 48 members. Our first activity was a plant sale that netted about $150. The sale has become an annual event and draws customers from all over the region.
Also in 1994 Carol M. wrote by-laws and Gwen, Anne and Carol remained in office for the following two years. Marion C. was the secretary. Anne planned trips as part of her duties as program chair along with help from Carol. The job of program chair was split later and Carol took the newly created position. In addition to the year, we held our first Tea at Carmella C.'s home and Charles S. read poetry. Teas have become an annual affair at members' homes.

The evening division of the club was started in the summer of 2002 in response to the growing number of interested gardeners who could not attend the daytime meetings. Dianna M. was chosen president with Beth S. as vice president. In 2005 positions have changed...Maris M. and Linda are now co-presidents, with Jen C. as the secretary, Beverly N. as the refreshment co-ordinator, Nancy K. as garden club webmaster and Winnie as the treasurer.

Over the Years Community Beautification has been a Main Objective.
The firehouses, police station, library, 202 triangle, Grange circle and damside have all been yearly undertakings. A flagpole was donated to the police station and a granite bench to the Bow Lake beach. The club has made donations to the Bow Lake Community Club for improvements to the Grange.

Growth and Expansion for the Club.
1996– We started the ways and means book to help future chairmen to know what has gone on.
1997– The Adopt a Highway pickup began. In following years other organizations and individuals took on additional roads to clean up.
Contributions made to the school to help fund Conservation Camp.
2002– A scholarship fund was started for local students attending college.

Community Activities.
Fashion show, Christmas House Tours, Garden Tours, Children's Christmas at Waldron store with many more activities to come!
